You leave Cornwall by following the St. Lawrence Recreational Trail, a dedicated bicycle path that is always close to the St. Lawrence River. When the trail ends you will continue your journey on County Road #2. The ride from here to South Lancaster is very pleasant as you are always close to the river; the remaining 16 km in Ontario is less pleasant as you are close to the 401 highway! Almost immediately after crossing into Quèbec, you will join the the amazing Route verte network of provincial bicycle paths. The 20 km ride alongside the old Soulanges Canal is wonderful!

Maps
W-T Cornwall 1 0 km Leave Cornwall on the St. Lawrence Recreational Trail. It is not difficult to find since it extends through the city on the north shore of the river. However, your best bet could well be to keep following the blue / green Waterfront Trail signs.
W-T Cornwall 2 6 km St. Lawrence Recreational Trail ends at the Cornwall city limits. After the underpass, proceed east on County Road #2, following the Waterfront Trail signs, and you will find that there is an excellent paved shoulder all the way to South Lancaster.
8 km Village of Glen Walter.
  16 km Village of Summerstown.
W-T Glengarry 23 km Cooper Marsh Conservation Area. AN00026A.gif (2467 bytes)
25 km Village of South Lancaster.
26 km Highway #401. Turn right, and follow South Service Road immediately to the south of Highway #401. This is one of the least interesting sections of the route as you are so close to the highway.
  30 km Glengarry Park. NA00087A.gif (2177 bytes) WB00886_.GIF (382 bytes)
38 km At the stop sign (and truck stops!), turn right on Old Hwy. 2. This road was recently re-paved and now has a decent paved shoulder.
41 km Ontario / Québec Border. As you cross into Québec, you will find yourself on Route 338.
Route Verte 1 43 km Village of Rivière-Beaudette. Look for the Route verte #5 (bike path) on the north (left) side of Route 338. Be sure to follow the Route Verte signs for the next 15 km.
46 km Plage St. Zotique NA00087A.gif (2177 bytes)
56 km Turn left (signed to Pointe-des-Cascades) and follow the 21 km Piste Cyclable de Soulanges (which is still route verte #5) bicycle path. This bicycle path follows the old Soulanges Canal. Constructed between 1892 and 1899, this canal served as the main shipping lane through this section of the St. Lawrence. It was abandoned in 1959 after the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway.
77 km Village of Pointe-des-Cascades. This is where the canal (and the excellent bike path) end. There is a small canal museum located in the village. Leave the village heading north rue Centrale (which then joins route 338).
78 km Rte.338 has an excellent paved shoulder for cycling. Either follow it all the way to Vaudreuil-Dorion, or take the right fork (rue Meloche) at this point. Rue Meloche is the old highway: it is traffic-free and follows the lake. The downside, however, is that the surface is not in the best shape!
84 km Community of Vaudreuil-Dorion (all services).
