| This
route commences at Canada's Parliament Buildings in Downtown Ottawa. Shortly
after leaving the Parliament Buildings, the route joins the Ottawa River
Pathway and hugs the Ottawa River shoreline for 20 km. |

Parliament Buildings, Downtown Ottawa. |
| 1 km |
Turn left on Sussex Drive and ride past the
homes of Canada's Prime Minister and Governor General. Sussex Drive
becomes Rockliffe Parkway as it follows the Ottawa River in an easterly
direction. |
| 7 km |
Shortly after passing the Aeronautical Museum
(which is hard to miss!) turn off the Rockliffe Parkway on to the Ottawa
River Pathway, an excellent finely crushed gravel bike path that hugs the
banks of the Ottawa River. Join the pathway by turning left (towards the
river), but you will need to look carefully for the small sign on the side
of the road! |
| 9 km |
Watch for the fork in the paths. The Ottawa
River Pathway (surprisingly) is the right fork at this point. |
| 18 km |
The Ottawa River Pathway temporarily ends but
resumes again after 400 m (watch for the signs on your left!). |
| 25 km |
The Ottawa River Pathway ends at Trim Road.
However, for the final 2 km the gravel is course and not that good for
riding. Instead, you would be well advised to ride the final 2 km on the
adjacent paved road (which has very little traffic on it), continuing to
follow the Ottawa River in an easterly direction.
In any case, turn right on Trim Road when you reach it. |
| 26 km |
Turn left at the second set of lights on to C.R. 34 (Old Montreal Rd.).
|
| 33 km |
Town of Cumberland (convenience store /
restaurant). |
| 37 km |
At the stop sign, turn right on busy C.R. 17.
However, in 300 m, be sure to turn left and follow McTeer Rd. |
| 39 km |
Back on busy C.R. 17. Ride carefully for the
next 2 km! |
| 41 km |
Turn right on rue de la Baie and follow it
into the centre of Rockland. |
| 43 km |
Town of Rockland. |
